What’s Up In Downtown?

MUSIC – Don’t miss Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear on stage at the Truman in the East Crossroads at 7:30pm on Saturday. From an under-the-radar act that thrived on word of mouth around Kansas City, they have became purveyors of one of modern folk’s most unique points of view. “We’re not classified as a mother-son band,” says Madisen. “But make no mistake, that is my mother.”

PERFORMANCE – For one night only… Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives return to the Folly Theater at 8 p.m. Saturday. This is a rare opportunity to see one of Kansas City’s most beloved Americana groups, as they return to the Folly for a memorable night.

CULTURE – Kansas City Symphony presents Enchanting and Exotic: Firebird, Aladdin and Rachmaninoff featuring pianist Alon Goldstein in this breathtaking Classical Series weekend at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday in Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
